We were delighted to welcome so many international participants to an extensive workshop in Bochum to talk, discuss and exchange ideas on ‘Visions and strategies to enhance the concept of floating energy islands’. The CA 20109 Modenerlands workshop took place on 2 and 3 September 2024 in Bochum.

The COST Action MODENERLANDS - Modular Energy Islands for Sustainability and Resilience aims to bring together and systematise the efforts of research and development groups working on sustainable energy and related technologies, in particular wind, solar and wave energy, to consider energy islands in the planning, design and development of future renewable energy infrastructures in Europe.

The strategy workshop planned for the third year of the Action will be held at the Ruhr University Bochum. This second workshop is intended to provide a forum to promote interaction and exchange of current scientific and technical experiences between the members of the COST Action and to facilitate technical discussions within the framework of the topic of energy islands. In addition, invited speakers from industry and research centres presented new advances in this field for discussion.
